NEPAL TELECOM WORKER'S UNION
(NTCWU)
NTCWU is the sole democratic trade union organization in Nepal Telecom. Within the short period of establishment, it has been able to gain massive popularity among Telecom workers due to its strong will power and vision of new dimension. As a largest trade union , NTCWU represents all the workers of Nepal Telecom.
NTCWU has celebrated its 19th anniversary and has successfully completed its 7th National Convention. Around 6000 NT working staff, NTCWU has 2562 paid workers as its members. According to 7th National Convention it has 113 unit committees,6 Regional committees and one Central committee. NTCWU is affliated with Union of Public Services in Nepal (UPSIN) nationally and Union Network International (UNI) internationally.
Democracy was restored in 1990 in the country after the success of people's movement in which workers also participated actively .The constitution of the kingdom of Nepal 1990 guaranteed multiparty parliamentary system, human rights and soverignty of people.It also guranteed the freedom of expression and association which inspired the formation of trade unions.NTCWU was established in 1994 according to the Trade Union Act 1993 with the objectives of promoting the rights of Nepal Telecom's workers.
